Definition of 'Certifications'
A designation stating a person has met the pre-requisites, completed the course work, and passed an examination. One of the few ways financial professionals can obtain specialized knowledge. The best certifications have continuing education requirements. Some certifications are scams. Advisors buy them to look more knowledgeable than they really are.
